23. Cat

I decided I finally had to break down and draw Bast/Bastet. She's my all time favorite mythological deity (cats + goddess = instant awesome), even above Nemesis, who I think kicks ass. She's also cool because she's a lot like Artemis in the fact that she's a wild goddess. Well, being part cat that comes with the job I think. So I had to draw her prowling around the back alleys at night (she's also the moon goddess) looking for trouble.

I didn't give her cat ears because I felt it would make the cat thing too 'in your face' obvious, the tail is just more subtle to me. Even though I wanted to pierce her big ol' cat ears, I opted for giving her a lip piercing instead.

Anyway, I'm surprised with how well the perspective in this turned out. I was expecting to fail at it miserably. Even so, critique is more than welcome. I think I may end up painting this digitally and adding it to my portfolio. What say you?

I was also going to make this a more modern interpretation of her, but I couldn't resist making her Egyptian and exotic looking. Does it work or should I change it?

And I didn't put on the mature warning because she's not really showing anything... even though she almost is :XD:

First of all, the amount of detail you put into this piece deserves a big WOW! :wow: Her proportions are good, though it appears that her torso is a little bit long. (People really do come in that shape, so don't worry about it.) Her right hand and her left foot could use a little more work, but who doesn't have trouble with hands and feet? About that railing you had trouble with: a shadow on the wall could help define it better. You put a lot of effort into shading this, and it's very lovely, but please don't be afraid to use darker shadows. Great job!
